Sokoto FRSC zonal commander retires 

The Federal Road Safety Corps Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone RS10, Sokoto, ACM Shoba Akande, has retired from service after a brief but impactful tenure in the zone.

Akande, who assumed office as the Zonal Commanding Officer in April 2026, bowed out on Monday, August 24, 2026, coinciding with his birthday.

In a tribute to mark the occasion, CC Sani Umar of ZHAHR, RS10 Headquarters, Sokoto, described Akande as a disciplined and responsible leader whose short stay left a lasting impression on officers and personnel.

Umar, while speaking at the zonal office on Monday, said Akande’s tenure demonstrated that effective leadership was not determined by the length of time spent in office, but by the impact made.

“Leadership is not measured by the number of years spent in a position, but by the quality of impact made within the time available,” he said.

According to him, Akande brought experience, responsibility, guidance and a human touch to his leadership of Zone RS10, earning the respect and admiration of those under his command.

“Today, we celebrate the man behind the rank. We celebrate a superior whose presence commanded respect, a leader whose decisions carried responsibility, and a Zonal Commanding Officer whose short stay has nevertheless become part of the history and memories of Zone RS10,” Umar stated.

He described Akande’s retirement as both a moment of celebration and a difficult farewell, particularly because of the short period personnel had to work with him.

“In April, we welcomed you into Zone RS10. Today, in August, we are already gathered to bid you farewell. The calendar says only a few months have passed, but the heart says it feels longer,” he said.

Umar noted that retirement should be seen as a new chapter rather than an end, adding that Akande had earned the opportunity to rest and devote more time to his family and personal fulfilment.

“Retirement is not defeat. It is a well-deserved transition from a life of official responsibility to a season of rest, reflection, family, fulfilment and renewed purpose,” he said.

He prayed for God’s continued protection, good health, long life, peace and fulfilment for the retired officer.

“The uniform may be removed. The office may be handed over. The official responsibilities may cease. But the dignity of having served, the memories created and the respect earned cannot be retired,” Umar added.

He congratulated Akande on his birthday and retirement, while expressing appreciation for his service to the FRSC and the nation.

“Today, we do not simply bid farewell to a Zonal Commanding Officer. We celebrate a life of service. We honour a journey of sacrifice. We appreciate a season of exemplary leadership. Thank you for serving our nation. Thank you for leading Zone RS10. Thank you for the indelible memories. Happy Birthday and Happy Retirement”, he concluded.
